Our small shop provides an adaptable manufacturing experience that most large Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can’t offer.
Simply asking for a change from a high-volume production facility is a multi-step process: first, there’s your contact—probably someone in sales. The salesperson will need to connect with Engineering, and then Engineering will have to talk with the Machinists. That’s quite the queue of people to navigate just to ask for a last-minute revision change!
Area Tool’s small size streamlines this process. When you call or email, you’ll reach one person who will immediately take your revision request to our shop floor and make on-the-spot arrangements to fulfill it.
Small Team, Serious Operation
Area Tool employs a close-knit team of highly skilled manufacturing professionals who operate dozens of cutting-edge machines on our shop floor. Whenever a machine isn’t in use, we can rapidly pivot to prioritize the process or project with the most urgent needs.
For instance, if a medical precision machining customer needs us to add a tapped hole to a part already in production, we won’t hesitate to pull that part out of the production line, add the hole, and return the part to its proper place in line.
We can enact changes quickly because so much of our work involves short runtimes. While some shops specialize in parts with lengthy operations that tie up machines for hours on end, Area Tool specializes in smaller productions with short operations. Though these shorter cycles require each machinist’s close attention, they also permit a machinist to briefly pause a job and quickly complete a custom request on a different machine.
Unlike production OEMs, which dedicate an entire machine to one part for years on end, Area Tool is structured to serve the customer who regularly reimagines, innovates, and implements improvements.

Not too long ago, the Area Tool team was able to quickly accommodate one customer’s surprising request. We were already machining the 50 unique parts required to build this customer’s product, so it only made sense when they asked us to handle the assembly, too.
With some brainstorming and elbow grease, we converted our excess facility space into an assembly area. Now, we complete this customer’s CNC machining services and their assemblies!
